Microsoft Office 2004 Troubleshooting ReportWord Freezes after Copy/Paste - Version: 11.5.5, 7/12/2009 03:57AM PST

Since we installed the newest MS Office update (to 11.5.5), Word has a big problem. Whenever someone wants to copy/paste something from an internet page, Word pastes it fully (with all the format and pictures etc.). It takes FOR EVER!...... Should that be much material, Word shows a "not enough memory" message or, more often than not, FREEEZES. The work-around is, of course, to use Paste Special (text-only), but this is rather very inconvenient. In 11.5.4, copy/paste (cmd-c/cmd-v) was doing just fine!

Microsoft Office 2004 CommentaryOption key for accent problem - Version: 11.5.5, 6/15/2009 07:43AM PST

My problem is not limited to version 11.5.5, but goes back over a year and to earlier versions of Office Word 2004. I have found a few others with the same problem, notably gmartin on this site.
I type in French. To create an accented character I hit the option key and the letter to be accented. 99% of the time no problem, but once in a long while (and then pretty consistently over a period of days or weeks) Word freezes when I do this. Can't save. If I go to the Finder, can't get back into Word. Must Force Quit and lose recent changes. All other applications fine. This is unspeakably annoying, and clearly others DO have the problem, is there no solution? Gmartin, have you found one?

I should add that I have changed computers and keyboards during this time and have clean reinstalled Office 2004. MacBook Pro, OSX 10.5.7. Many thanks for any suggestions!

Microsoft Office 2004 ReviewBeware - Avoid this update on PPC with 10.4.11 - Version: 11.5.4, 5/7/2009 07:37PM PST

Beware -over the past couple of weeks I have updated a couple of older iMac 17 PPC machines and have found that the non-admin user on those cpus can be affected by Word crashing or just the spinning wheel of death - would post more but VT wants copy in 45 seconds

Note that Microsoft has done a good job with support up until 11.5.3 & along with Open XML Converter is a reasonable solutions - but Office 2008 is very pricey, and may not make sense especially when NeoOffice and Apple's iWork are very good alternative products.

Please note that I have been using Microsoft products since 1989.
