What's new in this version:

Looped playback is now properly gapless.
A bug with the new scrubbing indicator and waveform scrolling has been fixed.
Parsing of WAV files has been improved.
Runaway memory usage when using Smart Split or applying a cue sheet to very large files has been corrected.
CAF files can now be opened by dragging them to the Fission application icon.
The Shift-arrow key combination now behaves correctly in all cases.
A crash when opening a cue sheet and then canceling the open file sheet asking to locate the audio file has been fixed.
Registration information is now written to disk immediately when entered.
All preferences are now written to disk immediately after being changed.
The application name and version are now shown in the Registration window.
Several small bug fixes and memory leak fixes are included.
Normalization now works correctly on files with corrupt packets.

Impressive and powerful app - Version: 1.6.2, 4/11/2009 02:33AM PST

One word: impressive! We had a sizable, 12 hour audio book that the likes of Final Cut Studio 2, QuictimePro, Audacity, et al just couldn't cope with. We discovered Fission and it breezed through the edits and exports with ease. The integrated ID3 tagging just added the icing when creating podcasts and audio books. Seriously powerful piece of kit and highly recommended, certainly for it's price point.

Another review says "simple, elegant, effective" and Fission certainly is that. The interface is excellent. One other thing the other reviews don't mention: it will work on files others won't. I did over an hours recording of an event with spoken word and music into *.WAV. The mixer desk did "something" because the file was corrupted part way through. MAC OS X would not even copy the file and other tools refused to work on it. Fission did and edited it. Great relief. Thanks.
