Flip4Mac WMV 2.3.0.11 (Mac OS X)
Image doesn't mount on MacPro with 10.6.1. Problems with BETA-software are OK. But one should be able to create a working disk image:-). For now the old version runs pretty well on my system. [alert admin]

Carbon Copy Cloner 3.3-b5 (Mac OS X)
Can't imagine how to do my every day's work without CCC. Every machine in our company was installed with CCC and every complete Backup is done witch CCC. I don't use the scheduler so that's not important for me. I think, in the final version that problem will be solved. [alert admin]

ClamXav 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
We use ClamXav on about 80 Macs an never had any problems. The new GUI is a big progress. Many thanks to the developer. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.6 (Mac OS X)
Update worked fine as usual, though I first made a clone to an external disk for trying my other software:-) After testing I deleted restored the internal disk from the updated one.
No problems at all. Some software need updates, f.e. xmarks for Safari or GPGMail, and 1Password and Cyberduck run as beta, but all major programs are well as they are, even Suns VirtualBox. [alert admin]

QRecall 1.1 (Mac OS X)
the technology of QR is the same you find in monster storage/backup solutions like Tivoli or Netbackup (incremental differencial on block basis), though the software is clearly designed for personal or soho use.
Once I had a problem I sent a mail to the developer and got detailed and exact help on my case within a couple of hours. That's something you won't find in Tivoli or Netbackup unless you have pretty expensive service contracts! [alert admin]

X11 2.3.3.1 (Mac OS X)
The last version needed some 20 seconds to start, though I guess there was something wrong in my configuration:-) But this update fixed the problem. Thanks for your work. [alert admin]

Little Snitch 2.0.5 (Mac OS X)
I use this little app since version 2.0 and had no problems ever. It closes exactly the gap that Apple's firewall and iptables leave:-) (I use both in addition). [alert admin]

Lotus Notes 8.5 (Mac OS X)
This version is the best IBM ever brought out. BUT: Don't intstall the stdandard version. The underlaying Eclipse system still is very very very slow.
My Tipp: install the basic version. It's much faster and runs on PPC-Mac, too, and, of cource, if your sys admin allows it, use the 8.5 template together with the Domino server 8.5:-) [alert admin]

Joomla is a complex PHP-application that I can install on my Mac. Why should I search in PHP-Applications-sites and shellscript-sites and ruby sites and PERL-sites and.... to find software for my Mac? You could say the same f.e. to Eclipse or Webmin as both use PHP and Java (so they're not cocoa)!

Thanks for this response. I have a MacPro with 2 x 2,66 GHz Dual-Core and 4 GB RAM under 10.5.6. I think, my machine isn't that bad and the standard version still is very slow. Don't get me wrong. I'd like to have the nice new features and so, but compared to the basic client the speed penalty is too high. And if you worked the whole day intensivly with notes (not only eMail but…

You forget resource forks (yes, they're still out there)! The implementation of Samba in Leopard splits resource forks in two files (Apple double) while other clients still save the resource fork together with the data fork (Apple single). If you need to find a common ground, you need DAVE!

What I meant is that MM ist much more than just a mind mapper (see entry from ccaslas). I dont't know the product Inspiration but will have a look on it. My comparison was the mindmapping part of MM, so I think, to compare it with OmniGraffle ist a little bit better than iTunes with XPress:-). An Export to MS Project btw is on the windows side possible.

That's it. Thanks again. In that way you could even implement the help direct into the application by including QuickInfo popups:-) Just an idea: If you put the template files into a subfolder within the user preferences, you could clap two flies with one hit (ist's a geman saying, hope it's clear what I mean:-). First you have a central place for the template files where the user has access without the need of an admin…

OK. But then it takes the file from the place where you dropped it. If you do it my way, the template files are all together at one location. Perhaps you forgot to add the file to the list: klickt the "+"-button and add the content manally.

is a basic component of OS X and is installed with the normal system install. You can determin the location of perl by typing "which perl" in the terminal application. It should look something like this: sberchtold@beit-g4:~ > which perl /usr/bin/perl If it is at an other place, webmin doesn't find it. You can then place a symbolic link of perl at this place. (ln -s /path-to-perl /usr/bin/perl). For that you have to be the root user. A…
