Circus Ponies NoteBook 3.0 (v366) (Mac OS X)
Maybe not back to square one, but maybe square four or five? ![]()

I agree with much of what the previous post touched on, but we two little people are most certainly not the ambassadors for the masses, hence be sure to give Circus Ponies Notebook a try to see if it fits your own idiosyncratic workflow. Circus Ponies Notebook looks great on paper, but in reality, many of the features that seem appealing are clumsily woven into an unnecessarily obtuse and complex usability nightmare. Again, Circus Ponies Notebook has many GREAT features and concepts that have the potential to be great were it not for the cumbersome implementation which provides an experience that feels like the results of an iterative process that insidiously went piecemeal somewhere along the line. IMHO there’s definitely no need for the application to retreat entirely to square one. Instead a reweaving of the impressive features and concepts into a tool that offers a more fluid experience might only require a theoretical step back to square four or five. For lack of my ability to successfully articulate, Circus Ponies Notebook feels to me, akin to the idea of the unrealized assembly of a Porsche (or whatever sort of vehicle you personally deem as high end). Imagine a garage containing all the quality, required parts for building a Porsche. And then while assembling the Porche, something, somewhere along the line unknowingly went askew and the quality of the resultant car is less than the sum of it’s quality parts. In other words the assembling of the parts didn’t results in the Porsche but instead some kind of hampered transportation device. I’m sure my ramblings sound crude, but the fact is I really like the idea of this application and wish I was better at articulating that which I feel significantly undermines that which I perceive to be the goal of the tool. Nevertheless, so long as gains are sufficiently balanced with investments I’d imagine that there won’t be any drastic revamping of Notebook in the foreseeable future. After all, I’m just one tiny speck on the left cheek of the immensely giant ass of the universe. Personally I think the application has the potential to be great! And would love to see an improved, optimized, and ultimately fluid Circus Ponies Notebook experience available one day! [alert admin]

Yep 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I haven’t updated Yep in a while so upon doing so I was a little surprised to see that it now bears these unMac-like, puke-brown background bands behind both the search critera area above and the view control strip below the interface, something for which I can’t seem to find preferences for changing. When did this happen, why and most importantly how can I change (neutralize) it!? As much as my inner-pragmatic-nag wants to let it go as no big deal, one of the great reasons for using a Mac is the exceptional, consistent experience across applications. This is one of many reasons why products from companies like Adobe have become so atrocious on the Mac. And while a cruddy user experience is hardly a surprise when it comes to cross-platform software, it’s curious why some Mac-specific developers try and push their own personal aesthetics into the mix, especially without the option to undo such customizations. Another example would be the 1.x version of Tags which exhibited a hideous novelty aesthetic that has thankfully been removed from the version 2 beta. Obviously time will tick on, but again, this is one of many reasons why a lot of us refuse to pollute our daily experience with Windows PCs. But for what it’s worth, this was my two cents. Wacom Tablet 6.1.2-5(RC) (Mac OS X)
With so many top shelf artists working exclusively on Mac OS X I have no idea why Wacom consistently puts out such horrible software to negatively complement their hardware. Then again the drivers could be just as terrible on the Win side, but I'd sell my soul before ever finding out firsthand.
FYI - Release candidate:
The term release candidate (RC) refers to a version with potential to be a final product, ready to release unless fatal bugs emerge. In this stage of product stabilization (read QA cycle), all product features have been designed, coded and tested through one or more Beta cycles with no known showstopper-class bug.

Pluto menubar 5.1.1 (Mac OS X)
I'm not quite sure why the developer is trying to label malcontents as trolls. Negative feedback isn't necessarily the work of trolls. Developer seems a little derranged; red flag? IDK, sounds sketchy. I can see how one might find this a tad too big for it's intended purpose, but I digress. [alert admin]

Wow! I'm in love. I'm a professional illustrator who's wasted a lot of time time fighting with both the technology and the confounded support available for “professional” tools such as Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, and Painter, Sketch Pad, etc. All current drawing and painting tools for professional illustrators are afterthoughts on the Mac, i.e. lazy ports. This is an AWESOME, unsung tool for illustrators, especially because it’s the truest Mac OS X experience available. The brushes are great! The customization is wonderful, automation is on a professional level, and I foresee even greater things in the future for Acorn! P.S. Pen/Bezier drawing/selection tool please :) [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0.3 (Mac OS X)
Is there any way to uninstall this absolute piece of garbage!? I loved Safari, it's light, fast, and clutter free. Ever since updating from the version 4 beta Safari has been a nightmare. Constant Spinning Beachballs of Death always leading to me having to eventually force quit the thing. I've uninstalled every inputmanager, plug-in, hack etc, reset preferences, ad infinitum, all a waste of time. Someone fubared Safari or WebKit or something somewhere and it's too bad, but I don't have time or patience for this thing any more. Parting is such sweet sorrow. Adieu! [alert admin]

Smart Scroll 3.1.1 (Mac OS X)
I absolutely adore this app. That said, I'm starting to lose my mind when it comes to this "can not start" bug. It comes and goes, I've trashed prefs and started fresh and I've even reinstalled all supporting items from the ground up to no avail. I've been dealing with this for months now and it's very irritating. [alert admin]

Dejumble 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)
How on earth does one collapse that big, space wasting new task portion of the panel on the top half? Dejumble would be fine if not for this aggravating space hog feature! [alert admin]

DEVONthink Personal 2.0pb5 (Mac OS X)
All the features worth looking at are quickly becoming freely available in other existing technologies, not to mention the handful of necessary features DTP lacks. If I wanted a glorified Finder I'd turn to Path Finder. That said, DTP is hardly even glorified as the Spotlight criteria capabilities are rather sad. Oh well. [alert admin]

I dug down into the hidden comments and found the reasons behind the "why" for some users. I guess if that's what works for you then cheers. IMHO that adds an extra step to utilizing Spaces, yet at the same time, I "get" what the purpose of Spaces.. Spaces.. Spaces.. is. Any reason in particular that actual ellipses weren't used in the name, in other words is there significance behind the two periods? i.e. Spaces……
